Boorish Tourists

In many areas tourism is touted constantly as a real boon. A real boon to whom I might ask? Perhaps for the small percentage of people who capitalize on the out-of-towners that swarm to that area, it is a boon. To the rest of us, these tourists are nothing more than pests who are infesting our living space, and who we locals look forward to be rid of. This may be especially true of areas where tourism is very much a seasonal thing. Understandably, if you move next door to Disneyland, you may never get a rest as that type of place is a year round "destination" for millions.

Personally, I am just tired of the moronic tourists who for some reason come here and can't seem to understand that driving 20 miles below the speed limit on the interstate during morning rush hour reading a map, or holding up the toll booth line for 10 minutes to ask the toll booth driver for directions is rude. This is why the locals hate you guys and throw a large block party when you idiots leave for the season to go bother some other area.

Open Letter to Mattel

To the corporate decision-makers,

When I was a kid, I remember getting my first Barbie Doll with her non-existant waist and 36 double-D breasts. Being a child, I did not back then equate this doll with being responsible for the poor self image many young girls would later develop as their own figures did not magically transform into the one that Barbie had upon reaching age 17. No, I am not writing about that transgression, but unfortunately one that is far worse.

For years, you, and many other greedy companies just like you, have been switching with ever increasing speed to the ever popular "Made in China" label for most, of not all, of your manufacturing. This sickens me on many levels. First off, your company has built its fortune on the back of America and all of the freedom it provides you. So WHY in hell are you supporting China. China is a communist country. In case you don't understand what Communism is, they don't have any freedom there. No freedom of speech, no freedom of anything. They participate in infanticide, genocide, and all of the other positively lovely other things that are basic tenants of communism.

Moreover, China is an enemy of this country. The Chi-Coms spy on us, pirate our technology, and refuse to adhere to international trade laws. Right now, they are building up their capital and their manufacturing infrastucture thanks in large part to A-hole, bottom-feeder, traitorous companies like you. At the same time China is also developing advanced weaponry and building its military and menacing Tawain. And they now have full control of the Panama Canal, thanks to good 'ol Billy Clitorus (I mean Clinton). This doesn't exactly spell good things to come. Tawain first, next the world?

Next, Chinese workmanship downright SUCKS! Yes, even worse than the workmanship of illiterate Mexican roofers. Now, I will grant you that this is most likely because, in China, this work is being done by 10 year old kids who are locked in a warehouse for 16 hours a day. But still... come on! People pay $30 for your stinking Barbie. Is it too much to ask that the head is still attached after I get through cutting it out of the box (Are you guys trying to copy Muslims now or something?). Is it too much to ask that the eyes are roughly the same size and shape or both of them have eyelashes? Unless I was looking at the new "Crack-head Barbie", this is just poor quality. Now, on top of everything else, we find out that millions of toys were painted using lead paint. Good job!

In closing, I am not saying that you are the only company that cares soley about your bottom line. What I am saying is that I will never buy another product from you, ever. May all of you contract Ebola and die a horrible death. But before that, I hope that your company is sued for all it is worth, and all of you greedy bastards end up destitute roaming the streets and rummaging through dumpsters for your next meal.

Take care!

Burning Bridges

Just a little food for thought... We are incessantly told how we need these illegal foreign workers to come here and "do the jobs Americans won't do". We are told that we need this unskilled labor pool.

And so these unskilled foreigners team into our midst carrying false ID and very often highly contagious diseases like Tuberculosis that were stamped out in this country years ago. We don't even know who these people are since they have fake ID --if they are "documented" at all. How do we know what the skills of these people include?

Many of these cut-rate illegals end up working in critical industries like, oh I don't know, construction? Funny that AMERICAN citizens and people who are allowed to work here LEGALLY often are required to have special licenses or trainign to work in construction, but yet the "unskilled" criminal invader, waiting outside on the street to be hired by some cheapskate dirtbag contractor, needs no such credentials. Hell, they don't even need to speak English or know how to read.

When when you hear things about things like the bridge in Minnesota collapsing, you really have to wonder if some contractor trying to save a few bucks by hiring incompetant, unskilled, illegal workers helped to cause this tragedy. I would not be surprised if many other bridges, high rises, etc. within our infrastructure suffered this fate due to poor quality of workmanship which is primarily the result of the large influx of uncertified illegal laborers into the construction industry.

While we're talking about this, we may as well talk about another point that I mentioned above: Illegal invaders swarming here carrying infectious diseases. Where else besides construction do they work? You know places like hotels, restaurants, agriculture. The concept of having foreigners who could be carrying any number of possible diseases working in industries where they are directly handling our food supply or exposing themselves to large cross-sections of the population is particularly unnerving.

When I read about things like the spinach and lettuce Ecoli scare a couple years ago, i also can't help remembering WHO it is exactly that is probably out in the fields picking the lettuce and spinach. Most of the people who come from a culture where it is perfectly acceptable and even normal to take a piss off the front porch in broad daylight in full view of anyone who cares to see. I'm sure a bunch of these people working out in the field picking lettuce are not going to take the time or inconvenience to find a bathroom if they have to take a dump either.

Not only is this type of behavior unsanitary and disgusting, but it poses a very real health hazard. We need to start talking about this and stop being politically correct. There is an elephant in the room and it's time we started talking about it.

C(h)ity Sidewalks

Hey!! Hey!!! You crack Mutherfacka neegar biatch!! Yeah that's riaght you!

Yep, you guess correctly if you said this scene was some chickie from da hood having a heated argument with her baby fadda on the street at lunchtime. Stepping out onto the sidewalk from my place of employement located in the slumbs of downtown can be, to paraphase Bilbo Baggins, "A dangerous business".

Now I consider myself as adventurous as the next person , but I really have no desire to witness some of the things I have during the short time I have been in this craphole of a location.

Once upon a time, most of the government offices were located in a safe quiet location on a building campus with lots of parking which was owned by the government (oops, I did mean TAXPAYERS really!). But then the government decided that this campus was too nice and that they must sell it to some crony of a politician's large corporation for a pittance as an incentive for the company to move here to our wonderful state. And so the campus was sold, but not before the government poured large amount of taxpayer's money into fixing up all the sidewalks and roads and landscaping on this large campus... I guess the tax breaks and the fact that the large corporation was buying the property for a fraction of its value wasn't good enough... so on the sly the good old politician's fixed all the things on the property that we government workers had not seen repaired in 10+ years just before handing over the property to their pals - at our expense. Nice!

Meanwhile, the tens of thousands of government workers who had previously worked on this campus, had to be relocated... but where? Again, the politicians came up with another great scheme.

Most of the cities in this area are horrible. They are nothing more than glamourized slums. There is little in the way of culture or attractions that would make most people want to risk their lives travelling through the slums to bother coming to any of these small pitiful local cities. Therefore, the government, which is constantly pouring more tax money into 'urban rivitalization' projects for the sole purpose of patting themselves on the back and pandering to low income people that live in those areas, had the wonderful idea to move all the government offices to these areas.

Now, we are all unwilling hostages basically from 9am-5pm monday through Friday. It is funny to see the "government worker" traffic. In the morning hours you see an influ of fairly late model cars containing middle class type looking people driving through these slums. Scenic view out the window of the commute generally includes a homeless person taking a leak on the wall of a dilapitated building or a crack momma screaming obscenities at her baby-fadda from the doorway of a building that looks like it should have been condemned five years ago. This is such a great situation for all of us that are forced to work in these areas. I'm sure that all the workers love it as much as me, as evidenced by the massive traffic snarls at 5pm caused by the government workers evacuating this shit hole city.

I'm sure us middle class folks are really helping to "revitalize" downtown business here... since most of us are afraid to even step out of our secured buildings at lunchtime. The sidewalks contain some messed up things here. I don't know what goes on in politicians heads when they do things like this. I think we should bus them in for the day and let them walk these sidewalks and see if they would want to work here themselves before they make decisions to force other people to do so.

Office Annoyers

Working in an office can be a strange experience. Often when I pass a pet shop at the mall and see the stacks of cages containing all sorts of strange and very different creatures from iguanas to gerbils, I am reminded of the office environment. All of the creatures in these cages are very different, and yet, most of them stare longingly at the outside of the cage wishing for their freedom from their small sphere of existance. Some of the creatures suction themselves to the glass walls or chew furiously with grand delusions of possible escape, but it is fruitless.

In the office, as in the pet store, the small cubicles assigned to each of the under-paid, harrassed government workers often contain very different creatures -- Most of whom are also longing for escape to the bigger outside world. I think the worst part of cubicle life is not so much the reality of being crammed into a 5x5 area for eight hours a day, but the fact that beyond your five-foot high wall exists a neighbor who is likely to be the most annoying person in the world.

I sit in an area that contains eight cubicles, four on each side, separated by a narrow aisle which connects to a wide corridor. My "cube" is the second one back from the main corridor which means that the traffic of four cubicle occupants and their visitors have to walk past my cube to get to and from the main corridor. This wouldn't be very much traffic (or so you might think), but it is. Yesterday I counted at least 30 back and forth passes within a 1.5 hour period. This is made worse by the way the cubes are set up, so basically you are facing with your back to the aisle between the eight cubes.

Now I don't know about most people, but for me, I literally can't stand people constantly walking back and forth behind me. It's highly distracting and just plain irritating to have to work like this. What is even worse is that the floor in this building is odd in that is shakes like an minor earthquake when most people walk on it.

The other thing that drives me crazy is that the cubes provide a false sense of privacy from your neighbors. Sure you can't see me, but I can still hear you. While you might not care that other people are hearing about your marital, health-related, or financial woes, trust me when I say that no one wants to hear about how your husband had to apply your hemorroid cream because you gained so much weight last winter than you can't reach it yourself and then you found a picture of him posing naked with the Swiss bikini team in his wallet so you think he might be cheating, blah blah blah. So please.. spare us or I may start recording this crap and selling it to Jerry Springer or reality TV.

Whistlers, snappers, and clappers... I have been in several different offices now containign completely different people... yet the one thing that seems to be peskily pervasive in every single one of them is a group of people I will collectively refer to as "Annoying idiots". Why must these people walk throughout the office loudly whistling, clapping, or snapping their fingers? Either they are completely oblivious to the fact that they are being annoying and disruptive to other people who are sitting at their desk trying to work, or they need a mass dose of Riddlin. Seriously, if you are one of these people knock it off. Go back to your cage... I mean cube... and do some work and let other people do theirs!

I could rant some more about the cubicle jungle, but I am getting antsy due to the number of people walking behind me. I think I will get up and take a lap around the office slapping and whistling at the same time for revenge.

"Hi, I'd like a number 2 with a sideorder of stupidity, please"

Today at lunch I pulled up to the BurgerKing Drive-Thru. There were about three cars ahead of me and I sat there for about five minutes because some rude asshole was holding up the line as he sat in place yapping to some guy he knew who was talking to him outside his car... Hey pal... I got news for you. You're a moron and some of us aren't on welfare like you probably are where we can roll out of bed at noon everyday and wait three hours in the drive-thru for you to finish your drug deal/conversation/Friday night date plans.

I mean seriously... What the fuck? I mean three people are sitting behind you who are ready to order and probably in a hurry and you are sitting there for literally 5 minutes yapping and completely oblivious to the fact that other people exist. I continued to glare at this retard until he eventually at his leisure concluded his conversation and pulled forward. I am fairly sure that if the obnoxious driver and his conversational partner had not both been two very large black dudes that looked like they could have been packing heat, everyone would have been honking their horn furiously at their blantant rudeness. Finally, Mr. Coolio decides to pull forward to the ordering window... Surprise surprise... he doesn't even have his order ready and we have to wait yet again while he makes an attempt to read the menu. I really hate people like this. Absolutely no respect for anyone else but themselves.

Another fine example is the people that take a leisurely stroll across the road taking their sweet time. They probably think because their fat asses weigh about 1/2 as much as a small car that most people will avoid hitting them. It is really aggravating though when there is a half mile backup of cars waiting to get through the intersection, the light only turns green for about 30 seconds, and fatass momma uses all but 5 of them to waddle across the road. Nevermind that there is actually a crosswalk and a little button she could have pressed and waited to safely cross without holding the cars up and causing more gridlock. She probably couldn't figure out how it worked, couldn't read, or maybe she just didn't speak English.

Does anyone remember the garbage barge? Sometimes i wish we could put all the people like the ones I described above on a small vessel and launch it out to sea or outerspace or something.

Thank god it's almost Friday.

Drive Drunking

So this morning my morning commute was sheer hell. The reason? Two females in the "early morning hours" (read: after the bars closed), were driving the wrong direction down a divided highway. Apparently they had been driving in the wrong direction for several exits and state police had received calls about them, but were not able to catch up to them before they ran head on into a propane tanker. Luckily the driver of the propane tanker wasn't injured and the tanker was empty. The two women? They were killed and of course the entire three lane highway was closed down for hours into the the early morning commute.

Honestly, I can't say that I feel sorry for them. Anyone that gets so blindly drunk that they are able to enter a divided highway via an exit ramp with all the "Wrong way!" signs and then continue driving for miles pretty much is asking for it. You would think that between the signs, and the fact that you really have to try to get on a highway like this heading the wrong way, and of course seeing the headlights of other vehicles driving in right direction would maybe be an indication that they were going the wrong way?

Also, it takes quite a bit of talent to not notice the headlights and sound of a tanker heading right for you... especially since each side of the divided highway has three lanes in which to manuver and during the wee hours when this collision occured, anyone who wasn't completely bombed out their gorde would have likely been able to avoid this crash even "if" getting on the highway was an honest mistake by a non-drunk driver.

I sort of resent that the news refers to this as an "accident" and the two dead people as "victims". Incidents such as these are not accidents at all, but instead calculated acts of stupidity. Not only are these morons jeopardizing their own lives getting behind the wheel when they are so messed up they can't even navigate their way onto a well marked intrastate correctly, but they are also jeopardizing the lives of everyone else that is unfortunate to share the road with them.

The real "victims" of incidents like this are the innocent people that these retards kill. For instance, the other day, a man killed one person and critically injured another as he drove home drunk... One of the victims he ran down was still lodged in his windshield when he called the police about 6 hours LATER saying he thought he might have hit someone... Hmmm what gave it away brainiac? The corpse lodged in your windshield? I wish this idiot and those like him would get the death penalty. Do I feel sorry when idiots like this take themselves out? Nope, not at all. In fact, I say a silent cheer this morning that there is one less drunk on the road and therefore the rest of us are all a little safer. If you think that is heartless then just imagine if it was your family member who died lodged in this asshole's windshield.

As for the passenger, perhaps in this case she was not driving, but "birds of a feather" do flock together. It is fairly likely that she was also bombed (or she would have offered to drive) and if her friend had not been the "designated driver" in this instance that she herself would have been behind the wheel. I don't think she is an innocent victim and she also had the choice not to get into a car with her trashed friend. She made a very bad mistake and it cost her her life. Darwin strikes again.

Independence from Laws = Independence from Common Sense?

Many of us think the government has gotten too big and that it is far too intrusive in our every day lives. For the most part I would agree with this. We have laws to dictate everything now it seems -from noise ordinances telling you how loud you can have your radio to building codes to set safety standards for new construction to the recent laws banning transfats.

My question is: Would any of these type of laws be necessary if people exercised even just a modicum of intelligence, common courtesy, and common sense? Have we become a society that is so legislated to death that we figure that anything that there is no law against is OK? There are actually warning labels on plastic RubberMaid (TM) storage bins now warning that they should not be used to store... PEOPLE... I mean seriously, WTF?!? If you honestly need a warning label to tell you that you should not hop into a small airtight plastic container and have someone seal the lid... Well, all I can say is that it makes a pretty good case for Darwinism.

Unfortunately, the gene pool these days seems to be getting more and more shallow. Those at the higher end of the IQ spectrum seem to be throwing their energies into financially rewarding endeavors such as law, research & development, selling their blackened souls into politics, etc. while those who are somewhat less than fortunate in area of gray matter seem to be reproducing like rabbits. That is not to say that every family that has lots of kids falls into this category, but as a whole it is those with lower IQ and/or not so good education that are making more babies.

This should be cause for some concern. I mean... Do you think that the founding forefathers and their families were the type of people that needed to be told not to stick hot coals in their rectums to avoid serious injury or death? Somehow, I really just can't imagine that being the case. Yet today we have idiots walking around that would definitely try something like this if not for the warning labels and some that would try it even despite the warning labels.

Another thing is common F'ing courtesy and common F'ing sense. People need to get some. This applies to people of all IQ's I suppose. It is just that many people have become so indifferent to rules of common decency that it is ridiculous. It shouldn't take a brain surgeon or a public ordinance for someone to realize that riding through a residential area at 2AM with SnoopyDoggyDog (C)rap music blaring out your open windows loud enough to rattle the glass in people's storm door is something you shouldn't do. I was just reading a story about how an off-duty veteran firefighter with a spotless record shot and killed three 20-somethings and wounded two others because their loud 4th of July party (complete with illegal fireworks) carried on past midnight.

Now obviously the firefighter shouldn't have done what he did, but it could have all been avoided if this bunch of selfish drunken brats hadn't completely disregarded the fact that, despite the fact that it is summer vacation for them, some people actually do have to get up for work and don't particularly appreciate loud parties and explosives being detonated 15 feet outside their window when they are trying to get some sleep.

I didn't see all the details of the story, but I think it is likely that the neighbor let it be known that the party was bothering him, and had his complaints summarily ignored by the obnoxious revelers, before he came over and started shooting. Even if that wasn't the case, isn't it common sense that having a large loud gathering and detonating explosive past midnight is probably a very rude thing to do? I'm not saying that these 'young adults' got what they deserved, but I think that if people started paying a little more attention to how what they are doing affects others around them, this sort of thing would be far less likely to happen.

A Small Victory in a Greater War

Ding dong the witch is dead! Yes, that's right... the horrible Amnesty for Illegal Invaders/Colonizers bill is dead! On Tuesday, the vote for cloture to end further discussion and bring the bill to the floor for a final vote was 64 for and 45 against. The vote today was 53 nay 46 yea.

That is quite a remarkable reversal within the past few days. 18 senators switched their votes thanks to the millions of Americans that decided to make their voices heard and reclaim their country. The liberally biased media admits that 80% of Americans are adamently opposed to ammesty (which means the number is probably closer to 85-90%. So many Americans called to protest this bill that the telephone system at the Capitol in Washington collapsed under the volume of calls and had to be shut down. This is an amazing victory, but it is not over. This 'amesty for illegals" will rise again and we must be ready. For more on what you can do to help, visit: http://www.fairus.org/. It is very simple from this website to send free emails and faxes directly to the senators and congressmen in your zipcode. We are fighting for the continued existance of our great country. Isn't it worth a few minutes to let your voice be heard?

I think almost everyone is familiar with the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Remember in the final movie the scene where Frodo and Sam had just made it to Mount Doom and the last of the remaining companions sat in the fortress at Minas Tirith -noting that the dark forces where on the rise and that Frodo and Sam had not a chance to destroy the ring unless the blazing Eye of Sauron and his forces could be "distracted" long enough to give them a chance. Gimli , the dwarf immediately declares: "Certainty of death. Small chance of success. What are we waiting for?", and so off they went. It seemed pretty hopeless and impossible that such great forces of evil could be overcome by the small handful of good that remained.... But they did it. Remember Lady Galadriel's remark to Frodo when they had first met: "Even the smallest person can make a difference." And that has been proven true again today with the defeat of the immigration legislation.

This trilogy could almost be an allegorical tale reflecting the illegal immigration/invasion situation here in the United States. Border Security and immigration laws in the United States have never been strongly enforced. Prior to the formation of entitlement programs, most of which were initiated by FDR, it did not seem like a big deal to most Americans. People from other countries, mainly Mexico, snuck in and did some jobs and most of them went home. As the number of entitlement programs such as welfare, food stamps, and Medicaid began to grow in number and in budget, often illegals found that because of the lack of background checks and legal status that they could get a much better deal and higher quality of life by staying in this country instead of leaving once their work was done.

Of course since most of these people were coming in from Mexico and since that border is largely porous, Mexicans began to inform their family and friends that life in the US was better and that they should come on in too. Of course many did and not just from Mexico. By the mid 1980's the problem had reached a level where there was enough public outcry that the politicians decided to "fix" this problem. How did they fix it? By giving all the people that had broken in illegal total and complete amnesty and granting them citizenship (of course!!).

Now considering that the border still remained WIDE OPEN after this amnesty was passed in 1986, what do you guess happened? Well the next wave of foreign invaders decided to make their way here too and wait for the next "amnesty" when they too could be rewarded with citizenship for breaking into the United States.

Now anyone with half a brain would realize that this sort of blanket amnesty would have this effect (which is possibly why the people in congress and even Ronald Regan didn't get it). I honestly don't believe that our chosen "representatives"... or should I say "rulers"(?) are that stupid. I personally believe that the amnesty efforts back then, as they are now, a deliberate effort to bring more unskilled and uneducated people from the third-world in this country and make them legal voters. A logical person might ask, "Why would anyone do something so evil?".

The answer is as simple as it is diabolical. Many people go to Washington because they crave money and power. Sure I will admit that a few do go there trying to do good, but even they, over time, become corrupted by the cesspool of those around them.

Career politicians like Teddy "Chappaquiddik" Kennedy did not get to be where they are by being nice or by telling the truth. People get to Washington by having the power, money, and connections to get elected and re-elected. This means telling every group what they want to hear while all the while doing what serves your own visions and bank account/campaign coffers the best. This is the true nature of politics. this is why chances that your Uncle Mel won't become president, but families like the Bushs, Clintons, Kennedys, etc. hold high ranking offices for generations.

What eventually happens is that the American people realize they are being sold out and start to become angry and complain about the high taxes and inefficiency of big government. Implanting 12-20 million new "voters" is a great idea for politicians because think about it. Most of these people come from third-world countries that are ruled by the sort of tyrants would might decide to run you through a wood-chipper for looking at them funny. And as for services in a lot of these places, forget it. In many third-world countries, the dictators keep all the money "donated to them for aid to their starving people", or in the case of food, they let it rot and don't bother to actually distribute it. Our politicians, such that they are, actually seem like holy saints to most of these people fromt the third world. The politicians vote to give them free food, healthcare, housing, in-state college tuition rates, and now citizenship!

So basically the politicians' end goal is to cancel out your vote with the votes of 12-20 million new voters who are going to have an innate loyalty to those who gave them the ultimate gift of citizenship and who have a very low expectation concerning the rights outlined in the American constitution -especially the right to free speech and the right to bear arms. These people didn't have such rights in their own country so they aren't going to raise much of a fuss as these things are slowly taken away from them here. Hey, they are just happy they are given food, third-rate socialized healthcare, and the right to watch Oprah.

The dirty secret is that the more people dependent on government for their basic survival needs, the bigger government gets, the more inefficient it gets, the more money it sucks out of hard working people's pockets. Politicians for the most part LOVE expanding government. It gives them a reason to steal more of your money and decide how to spend that money. Don't think for a single minute that there are not kickbacks that go to high-ranking politicians in exchange for contracts needed to expand or create entitlement programs. Everytime goverment expands, these career politicians become more powerful. They appoint their friends and family (or friend's and family of major campaign contributors) to hold high paying jobs with titles like "Deputy Director", "Commission", "Executive Chairman", etc within these newly created programs. Of course since most of these people are not qualified to work at the McDonald's drive-thru let alone run a new agency, high priced consultants are brought in to actually do the work... Of course the consulting firms that get these contracts are also campaign contributors. We are paying for all of it. The 12-20 million aren't paying much in taxes (if they are paying taxes at all), so this doesn't bother them in the least. Personally I am tired of having my paychecks involunetarily and illegally robbed by the government.

So, you see the goals of those in power of our government. We must be more vigilant now than ever before. Certain legislators suchs as Teddy "Chappaquiddik" Kennedy have a habit of sneaking a few lines of completely unrelated new laws/ammendments into very long boring bills that almost noone reads. I mean honestly.. would YOU read a 1200 long page bill on agriculture surplus? That's like reading 2 Harry Potter books back to back. Remember that congress votes on several bills in one day usually and sometimes bills (such as this latest amnesty bill) are made in secret behind closed doors by small special committees. I don't think half of them could tell you at any given time what they are actually voting on and what is hidden in those bills. No wonder we are in the mess we are today.

Driving me crazy

I'm driving to work this morning half awake as usual wondering why traffic is moving about 40 miles an hour slower than the posted speed limit. There are so many cars on the road. I wonder how many of them are stuck in traffic stressing out about being late for work like me. There are a lot of out of state license plates this morning and I wonder what brings then here. I have nothing against travellers, but I really do question their need to be driving on unfamiliar roads in the middle of rush hour traffic.

Same with the elderly people who, in their last attempt to hold onto their independence, refuse to relinquish their license even when reflexes and vision issues clearly warrant it. You can usually find them haphazardly careening in and out of traffic driving 45 mph in the left lane of the highway. I am not sure what is so urgent that these people feel compelled to jeopardize their own lives and the lives of others by driving in a Mr. Magoo like fashion during the heaviest traffic of the day. Maybe they ran out of Depends or canned prunes, which I can almost understand, but stilll. Another half an hour and the roads would be almost clear.

The real kicker is that elderly people get all sorts of breaks on their car insurance rates. Probably because of the strong AARP lobby. It is really sad because elderly people are in the news more and more in the past few years when they "accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the break, oh dear!", or get "confused" and get onto a divided highway going in the wrong direction, or end up driving down a crowded sidewalk mowing down anyone in their wake. This is just another example of how modern health and science has allowed our bodies to continue function long after the mind has ceased to.

How many more people need to die before someone puts together legislation to get keys out of the hands of those who are clearly no longer fit to drive. Age discrimination? Well, it's age discrimination not to let 5 year olds vote then, or drink for that matter. Is age discrimination only not considered age discrimination when those being discriminated against can't do anything about it? I never saw a rally composed of angry 5 year olds marching in the street because of faulty lids on their juice cups. Actually, come to think of it, the insurance industry has discriminated against those under 25 for years saying their are statistically worse drivers so they are allowed to charge them more. Maybe that's true, but I'm pretty the elderly are also in the same category, so why do they get discounts? It's sort of funny... College students get screwed but they don't care because they are too busy with school and partying to organize and make noise, whereas I am sure the AARP would raise holy hell if insurance companies tried to raise the premiums for older drivers. See how that works? Whoever can't or doesn't make noise, get the proverbial shaft.

Just when you thought it was safe....It's Bah-ack

Well folks for those of you that thought the fact that 80% of the american people are against the new backdoor amnesty for illegal alien bill that was being created behind closed doors in the illustrious senate would be enough to kill it... Think again. Last week some senate offices were literally unable to do business due to the floods of angry American citizens calling in to sound off on this issue... So they shelved the bill. The news media reported the bill as "dead" due to lack of support.

After about a week of distracting us with other issues, this horrible bill has come back to life as:
SENATE AMNESTY LEGISLATION, S.1639 (formerly S.1348) . Yep that's right. The US Senate is apparently not only full of drama like your favorite afternoon shows, but apparently in the great tradition of soap operas everywhere, the evil villian will return to life once more to try to wreak havoc on the unsuspecting.

This bill is bad for several reasons. Not the least of which is the fact that people who basically broke into our country will be rewarded with citizenship for a fine that will end up costing less than a DWI. The politicians keep saying that we need this bill to secure the border and to improve enforcement, but that is not the case.

There are many laws regarding immigration which are already on the books and that have been on the books for years. And last year we passed a law to build a 750 mil stretch of fence along the Mexican Border. Guess how much as been built so far... Yep, that's right, in keeping with its grand tradition of uselessness and ineptitude, the government has built about 70 miles of this 750 mile fence - even though it has been fully funded already. We also have laws that allow for government to identify, detain, and deport illegals as well. The main problem is that government absolutely refuses to enforce most of these laws.

The main problem with this bill in particular, should it pass, is that all of the parts of the bill that allow for improved border security and enforcement will not be acted upon... while the portion of the bill that allows for the illegals to become citizens (aka voters) will be executed the day after the legislation passes. I hope this does not happen for the sake of our country.

Allowing 12-20 million people instant citizenship, merely because they were able to sneak across our wide-open border illegally, does not bode well for our future. Once we "legalize" 12-20 million people as a reward for breaking our immigration laws, that is only going to encourage more people to do the same especially given the fact that border continues to be wide-open and is likely to remain so for the foreseeable future.

There are some downright lies and misconceptions going on here. On of which is that we need illegals to fill some sort of labor shortage. The truth is that we don't need illegals to fill jobs that "Americans won't do". The main reason "Americans won't do" most of these jobs is because the greedy employers are paying an undercut wage to illegal workers. And don't feel sorry for the employers when it is known that many illegals are employed by farms. Most farms today are no longer run by Uncle Bob and Aunt Bertha - They are run by large corporations. that are trying to optimize their profits and bad the bottom line by using the cheapest labor available even if that labor is illegal aliens.

So that is the real truth behind the jobs "Americans won't do" lie. Of course no American is going to work for an unlivable wage -that is almost guarenteed to be below the legal minimum wage. That brings up another interesting point too... If illegals are being paid a wage that is below minimum wage, how can they afford to live here and send money home too? Aside from the fact that the wages are mostly in cash and under the table (tax free anyone?), the dirty little secret is that illegals are supplementing their low wages by helping themselves to taxpayer funded social service benefits like welfare, food stamps, medicaid, etc. When they get a case of the sniffles, they head over to the emergency room at the local county hospital which is forced to treat them for free, no questions asked. Guess who funds these hospitals... yes,the taxpayers... and guess what else... these hospitals are going bankrupt from being forced to treat uninsured illegals for free.

I am not anti-immigrant. I am anti-illegal-alien-invader/colonizer. Sure most illegals are sneaking in for a "better life", but let's face it: there are lots of people all over the world that want to come here. Most people would come here if there were given a chance to, but this country can only take in a finite number of people before our own quality of life starts to suffer from over crowding. Since we do need to limit and regulate the number coming in, I'd like to give the first chance to people who have applied to come here legally and who would have something to offer this country as a mutual benefit instead of just allowing 12-20 million people first dibs because they decided to sneak in.

One more thing. I am fairly sick of hearing how "immigrants built this country" and how "We are all immigrants except the American Indian". Back when original immigrants came here, there was barely anything to come to at all. Everything this country has now had to be worked for and built. There were no hand-outs and freebies to draw people here like there are today. The immigrants of yesterday came over on risky passages on boats across the ocean that took a month or more to get here. They came here with no promises for welfare, guaranteed health care, food, etc. They didn't just sneak over the border and apply for social service benefits. Don't even try to tell me that illegals aren't able to get these benefits because I used to work for a soscial service branch of the government at one point in my career and i have seen that they do. they are flagged as being "Illegal" or "Non-Citizens" in the databases but they still apply for and obtain benefits. I feel strongly that many of the people coming in today illegally are coming here to mooch off our benefits system as much as they are to find "work and opportunity".

That's not to say that many US citizens aren't mooching too and I don't like that either, but at least they are here legally. And trust me, I wish it was possible to kick out citizens who are doing nothing except sitting around on the public dole. The money for all these programs for moochers has to come from somewhere and unfortunately that somewhere is out of the pocket of working stiffs like you and me. When you have about $900+ a month stolen from your paycheck before you ever see it, I think it is a reason to be disgusted and angry at people milking the system. $900 is almost twice what I pay for rent every month. $900 a month is a brand new small car every year (with trade in). $900 a month is a mortgage payment on a nice house. You see where I am going with this? Anyway...

This problem seems overwhelming, but it is all common sense. I have outlined the steps below that shoudl easily fix this "complicated" issue.

1) Secure the border - Yes, this means build the damn fence already, hire more border agents, and put the national guard on the border. I would personally like to see a fence like the one used in Jurassic Park. This would not only act as a very effective deterrent to those attempting to cross illegally, but would actually save many lives by discouraging people from making a long dangerous trip through the desert only to be met with such an insurmountable obstacle.

2) Take away taxpayer funded social services for people who are here illegally. This makes a lot of sense (which is probably why government hasn't thought of it). I mean really... If someone shouldn't be here at all, shouldn't that be a clue that they are not eligible to receive welfare, medicaid, food stamps, etc? When people apply for these things, there should be better checks to ensure citizenship and if the person is not a citizen then they should be detained and deported at the first opportunity.

3) Take away the jobs that draw people to come here illegally. We need to start hitting employers where it hurts when they attempt to circumvent employment laws by hiring cheap illegal labor. This means very large fines and possibly jail time for the person in charge of checking legal status of employees. I think that the possibility of sharing a 12x12 cell and a cot with a guy named Bubba might encourage employers to screen employees more carefully.

4) Take away "birth-right" citizenship. Honestly... We all know that the 14th ammendment (which contains the clause that was interpreted in this heinous way) was never intended to grant citizenship to the children of people who are illegally on our soil. We need to change this so that one biological parent of the child need to be a citizen in order for the child to get automatic citizenship. This would also be something of a humanitarian thing. I really don't want to think about some woman waddling across the desert in 120 degree heat for 3 days so that she can pop out an anchor baby. We need to take away this incentive for people to do this type of thing.

I think that once items 1-4 are put into effect that the lure of sucking off the tit of American taxpayers along with no prospect of finding work or popping out instant citizen babies will discourage most people from trying to sneak in. Furthermore, many, if not most, of the illegals will leave on their own and go home where they belong. Maybe this will even encourage them to try to reform and improve their own countries instead of trying to sneak into this country for an easier ride.

If you have anything to say on this issue, please sound off to your elected representatives and do it soon before it is too late. This site also will gives you links to the emails and websites of your own officials if you type in your zipcode.

Summer Dreaming

Some days seem to pass more slowly than others, especially in the warm summer months where the sun is shining and making you long to be outdoors instead of sitting in a stuffy cubicle for hours on end. Today is one of those days. Fortunately, my boss is out today which always makes things more pleasant.

Having only been with this particular agency for a few months, I still have much to learn. Unfortunately, someone here made the ill-fated decision to purchase and install Lotus Notes (known not-so-affectionately by users and developers as "Loath us Bloats"). I could spend a great deal fo time ranting about the inadequacy of this particular product, but it's been done before and rather well I might add. Check out http://lotusnotessucks.4t.com/lnEx07.html for a good laugh and a good idea of what we experience every day using this abomination.

Frankly, having been a computer application developer for about 10 years now (and successfully managed to avoid this product until now), I am convinced that a bunch of super geeks, who hadn't had the fortune to see an open pair of legs since their momma gave birth to them, invented this product. Why? We may never really know. Perhaps it was a joke and intended to be funny, but somehow most of us mortals are not l33t enough to understand the humor of super geeks. Or maybe it was revenge for the lack of parental love, inability to get a date, or a big 'ol Fuck you aimed at George Lucas for contaminating the Star Wars Prequels with that Jarjar Binks creature. We may never understand.

Anyway, today I am, watching the clock and waiting while half heartedly perusing the Internet for information on Loath us Bloats. The funny thing is if you type in "lotus notes sucks" into google search, you get back pages on pages of people who absolutely hate this product. It truly is terrible and I won't bore any of you with the technical details of WHY. Type that into google search if you care. The ultimate irony is that we are now stuck with this product because some brainiac non-technical person bought into what the IBM salesman told him and probably didn't even understand half of what was being said. No manager will ever admit that a product is bad or the wrong thing after they have signed off on purchase orders and spent tens of thousands of dollars on something. Nope. We're stuck with this until the people who gave the big OK to purchase it, retire or are promoted to another agency where they can continue to spread their incompentance. Yay!

First Post

Thanks for checking in. I'd like to limit details about my own identity because I am sure the bureaucrats running the show wouldn't appreciate having their stupidity broadcast over the Internet. That being said, for the curious, I'm a single female in my 30's with an affinity for conservative talk radio and online gaming. Some people might consider me stubborn or contentious at times, but it is mainly because I take a deep interest in seeing things done well and it is hard for me to deal with utter incompetence... Very ironic that I work in government isn't it? The purpose of this blog is to bring to light some of the foibles of government as well as the day to day grind of a government worker peon like myself.

Hope to see you back soon!
